Last July 8 and 14, the students of Po On Commercial Association Wong Siu Ching Secondary School participated in a two-day Fashion stem workshop. Students were introduced to basic concepts of inclusive design and smart textiles, as well as innovative Polymeric Optical Fiber-based (POF-based) textiles, in order to ideate and create products that solve elderly needs.
On the first day, Dr Miu Wong, a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University taught the 3 mini workshops wherein students were able to use weaving looms, working with polymeric optical fiber textiles and electronic circuits. Students also began their initial ideations of ideas and illustrations like a blazer which will illuminate if the elderly require assistance.
We look forward to the final stages of the F-STEM workshop and can't wait to see the student's work in the final exhibition!
